Simple Travels: Thailand Day 3

12 Feb

Today was a whole day of learning and being motivated. We left the hotel at 8AM to catch the 9AM conference.

The first speaker was Ankat, a 20 something year old, professional hacker who is now an internet security consultant of various government agencies. He demonstrated how easy it was to be hacked and to get someone’s information. He provided a few tips and solutions on how to avoid this problem.

The second speaker was the recipient of MDRT’s sponsorship fund. He is a monk who has devoted his life to helping out AIDS victims in Thailand.

Lunch was at the basement level where you can choose from a huge selection of food. You had to buy a card coupon to be able to buy any of the food in the area. Spent roughly B100 for a bowl of noodle (B55), a bowl of Thai dessert (B30) and water (B15)

We proceeded to the main hall with 4 speakers lined up – Tony Gordon, Alessandro Forte, and Ted Durnham. All charismatic and successful people in their own fields. All truly inspiring and motivational.

After the conference, we quickly rushed off to the bus which took us to Shrangri-La which is where the Chao Phraya cruise boat is docked. Prudential Corporation of Asia (PCA) is treating all its members to a cocktail aboard the Chao Phraya cruise boat. Food seemed overflowing as mounds and mounds of food were served by the cruise staff. The cruise took us around the river passing by the Golden Palace and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) among other tourist spots along the river. It was a night of music, fun and good conversation.

It was definitely a night to remember. A trip is always made more memorable in the company of friends.
