Simple Eats: Early Bird Breakfast Club

Early this year, we have made it a routine to go to church with Warren every Sundays. Except for when we were out of the country, we’ve never missed this weekly ritual. After church, we’d go out for either breakfast, brunch or lunch. I’ve always loved breakfast food and so staples have been – Maple / Pancake House / McDo for breakfast good. Having known this, a good friend of mine recommended trying out this restaurant that served all day breakfast with a twist. Hence, after our Sunday church one Sunday, we drove to Fort in search of Early Bird Breakfast Club. We found it in the same complex as Fitness First and the old Pier One.

The place is rather small which gives it a rather homy ambiance. We had to wait for about 15mins to get seated but the staff were friendly and accommodating enough to make the wait bearable.

All the things we ordered were nicely plated.

This was hubby’s initial order meant to be an appetizer but this was SO heavy. I took one bite and that was filling enough for me. This is their version of a French toast – Peanut Butter and Caramel French Toast.

Viva Longganisa (Php345.00): 4 piece heirloom Longganisa with garlic rice and your choice of egg.

French Toast Fondue (Php210.00): Nice use of egg shells to put the variety of dips – maple syrup, cinnamon powder and chocolate.

Mother in law ordered their arroz Caldo variation and liked it as well.

Our total bill is around Php2k. Will come back to try the other interesting items on the menu. 🙂

Staycation: Of Remembering the Dead, Shopping and Family

It was a long staycation for us last weekend. 4 days of family bonding, tons of shopping and lots of eating.

It was a joy seeing Warren turn our room upside down in his pilyo ways from getting himself stuck in the trash can to dancing to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse tune. Our boy is growing up fast!

Last November 1, we visited and remembered my hubby’s loved ones who passed away and were rested at the Thousand Buddha Temple. We also visited my Grandma at Christ the King.

Then, in the afternoon, we were off to the Toy kingdom sale at Megatrade Hall where our wallets got a beating. Good thing we came at the right time. We still got to go around a few times and didn’t endure the tremendously long line when they opened it to the public. At least I’m done with Christmas shopping for some of my inaanaks.

Seeing Warren’s face with one of the toys we bought him was well worth the shopping and shoving in the sale.

It was also a slight reprieve on my South Beach Diet. Lots of coffee as Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf launched their 2013 planners over the holidays. Got to try Hossein’s and Slice at the Fort for the first time. Both didn’t disappoint. Also got to try Magnolia Ice cream House at Robinson’s Magnolia. The food was not bad but wasn’t able to try their ice cream creations.

How was the long weekend for you? Did you stay at home or went out of town or country?

Simple Eats: Sonja’s Cupcakes

Reason for the weighing scale not budging? Hmmm … SWEETS! Too tempting! Can’t resist! Finishing up a meeting the other day at the Fort area, hubby wanted me to buy something home and I decided on Sonja’s cupcakes. I tried the cookie dough cupcake while hubby ate the Choco Overload. I loved the cookie dough (notice there is 2 in the box). Hubby’s choco overload was definitely overloading with chocolate. It felt like you were biting into a bar of chocolate instead of a cupcake! So good … Once in a while, I really just had to have desserts to relieve the stress. 🙂
